「ブルーは百色あんねんで！」じゃないですが、確かに同じようで違うブルーはたくさんあります。
「生地をその色に染める」のではなく、「糸を複数の色に染めて、組み合わせでグラデーションを作る」のが、Blue PaleとBlye Mykonosの違い。

Blue PaleとBlue Mykonos、経糸（タテ）は同じ色に染めています。Blue Paleは緯糸（ヨコ）を白い糸で織る。Blue Mykonosは緯糸（ヨコ）を、経糸（タテ）とも違う、薄っすらブルーに染めた糸で織る。

ブルー×白、ブルー×薄いブルー。生地に織りあがり、人の目で見ると違うブルーに見える・・・という仕組み。

この「多種多様なブルー」というアイデアに気づいたのはドイツのペリンガー社というタンナー。
某フランスの高級皮革鞄・小物ブランドの一部の革をなめしているのでも有名。
そこで、その某ブランドは特注の「色」があり、その色レシピはエクスクルーシブで他には数年間は出せないという契約なんだという話を聞きました。
さらに、そのレシピを記録したバインダーもあり、そこにブルーが何百、グレーが何百と並んでいました。

あれから数年。「オックスったら、無地は白とブルーで、そこで違いなんてどう出したらよいんだよ！」と自分で悩んでいて思い出したのです。
ブルーはいっぱいあるのだと。

そこで、生地屋さんに頼んで、1つの経糸（タテ）ブルーに対し、トーン違いのブルーを緯糸（ヨコ）に何色か打ってみる。その中から「これ」と選んで織ってもらいました。その選ぶわずかな間とは言え織機を止めるのですが、それもOKしてくれて、本当にありがたい生地屋さんです。高瀬さん、ありがとう！

色名、最初は「ライトブルー」「ディープブルー」とか考えましたが、どうも紛らわしい。そこで、また某ブランドを見ると、色をイメージに置き換えている。ブルーならジーンブルーやスカイ。ということで、濃い目のほうはミコノス島の空や海で、ブルーミコノスとしてみました。もちろん行ったことはありません。イメージです。イメージを膨らませる、ある意味妄想が私のクリエーションです。

“Blue comes in a hundred shades,” famouse Japanese TV Show star said that.
The difference between Blue Pale and Blue Mykonos lies in the fact that “the fabric is not dyed in that color,” but rather “the yarn is dyed in multiple colors and combined to create a gradient.”

Blue Pale and Blue Mykonos have the same color for the warp (vertical) threads. Blue Pale uses white threads for the weft (horizontal) threads. Blue Mykonos uses threads dyed in a light blue color, different from the warp threads, for the weft (horizontal) threads.

Blue × white, blue × light blue. When woven into the fabric, they appear as different shades of blue to the human eye... that's the mechanism.

This idea of “diverse blues” was first noticed by Perlinger, a German tannery.
They are also famous for tanning leather for a certain French luxury leather goods brand.
Apparently, that brand has a custom color, and the color recipe is exclusive
Additionally, there was a binder containing the recipe, with hundreds of blues and hundreds of grays listed.

Several years later, I was struggling with the question, “When it comes to oxford fabric, solid colors are either white or blue. How can I create a difference?” That's when I remembered.
There are so many shades of blue.

So, I asked the fabric shop to try weaving a fabric with one blue warp thread and several different shades of blue weft threads. From those, I selected the one I liked best. Even though stopping the loom for that brief moment was a hassle, they agreed to do it, and I'm truly grateful to them. Thank you, Takase-san!

For the color names, I initially considered “Light Blue” or “Deep Blue,” but they seemed confusing. Then, looking at another brand, I noticed they replaced colors with images. For blue, they used “Jean Blue” or “Sky.” So, for the darker shade, I imagined the sky and sea of Mykonos Island and named it “Blue Mykonos.” Of course, I've never been there—it's just an image. Expanding on images, in a way, is my form of creativity.
